Overview

What is the Smart Home Assistant?

It is a Smart Home technology developed especially for multi-storey buildings (apartments, offices) using popular Arduino, Raspberry, Nextion and ESP platforms.

This technology is designed as an additional system for electrical installations. Even if the devices that make up the technology are faulty or completely closed, the users can live in a normal way but without the comfort offered by the technology. This increases the comfort of the users and prevents possible victimization.

Units

Central Access Unit

Provides centralized access to all room management units and security features. It also conducts Internet-related functions.

Room Management Unit

Checks, manages and reports all devices in the room. Reads the sensors inside the room and performs the planned operations.

Infrared Remote Control

Provides control of Room Management Unit. Each user can carry one of it.

The Smart Home Assistant provides:

  •    Lamps, power outlets and other devices in rooms can be controlled from anywhere in the room by infrared remote control or can be controlled from anywhere in the world with mobile phone, tablet or computer.
  •    The lamps, power outlets and other devices can be switched on and off according to a schedule determined by the user.
  •    If the power outlets are not used for a user-specified period, the Smart Home Assistant can automatically cut off the electricity used by the power outlets.
  •    Air conditioning, central heaters and combi boilers can be switched on and off manually or according to a specific schedule.
  •    Central heating (or combi boiler) radiators in rooms can be switched on and off according to the set up temperature or the schedule to be determined.
  •    Motorized curtains, blinds and shutters can be controlled from anywhere in the room by infrared remote control or can be controlled from anywhere in the world with mobile phone, tablet or computer.
  •    With the help of magnetic switches, the open / close status of windows and doors can be monitored from mobile phone or computer. Warnings and alarms can be set for opening / closing. It can ask a password when users entered the house.
  •    Fire, gas leak, flood, earthquake or room's air deterioration can be followed. Alarms can be generated for these situations or related devices can be activated.
  •    It can be used as a multi-colored(65000 colors) animated warning lamp or night lamp.
  •    When your baby cries, it alerts you in your house and informs you via your phone.
  •    If people with disabilities or illnesses will pressed a specific button on the infrared remote control, it can give a warning inside the house. Also it can inform related people via their phone about the warning.
  •    It can control homes or offices by user created scenarios with supported 200+ sensors.
  •    Provides emergency lighting (lighting in case of disasters).
  •    Provides lighting in electrical power failure.
  •    Offers automatic electricity / gas shutdown in natural / non-natural disasters.

How it works

Basic principles

The building door, apartment door, alarm functions and disaster status functions are controlled by the Central Access Unit. The Central Access Unit is connected to the Room Management Unit in each room via an instant GFSK encrypted connection. Communication is only possible if necessary. This connection is not Wifi and does not generate continuous radiation like Wifi. The Room Management Unit is connected to the central junction of the electrical installation in the room. This reduces the cable requirement to a minimum. In addition, the need for wireless connection is minimized. Users can control the Smart Home Assistant by controlling the Room Management Unit via the Infrared Remote Controls.Also they can control by using the Central Access Unit's touch screen or by a mobile phone, a tablet, or a computer.

Installation

Installation of the devices is done when the apartment is completely ready for the user. No processing is required during the construction phase.
Installation can be done in 30-45 minutes by 2 electricians (+1 plumber if radiator control is to be used). See Figure-1 for details.
